Travis Scott (real name Jacques Webster) is a rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer.
Scott was born in Houston, Texas. He grew up in Missouri City, a middle class suburb area bordering southwest Houston. He began producing hip-hop records at age 16. After high school, Scott attended University of Texas at San Antonio before dropping out as a sophomore. After his dropout, Scott moved from Houston, Texas to Los Angeles, California. While in Los Angeles, rapper TI heard a few beats of Scott's and freestyled over them in a studio meeting. This led to greater connections. Scott's first big solo project is a 2013 mixtape entitled Owl Pharaoh. In March 2013, after Scott released the video for Owl Pharaoh's track, “Quintana,” XXL revealed Scott was a member of their “Freshman Class of 2013.” In 2014, Scott released his second mixtape, Days Before Rodeo. In 2015, following that mixtape's success, Scott went on a countrywide tour, selling out shows with artists such as Kanye West, Chris Brown, Wale, and Birdman.
In September 2015, Travis Scott released his first major label album Rodeo, which received critical acclaim and debuted at #3 on the US Billboard 200 chart. Scott's 2016 follow-up album, Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight, became his first #1 album on the US Billboard 200. In May 2018, Scott released a single titled “Watch,” featuring Kanye West and Lil Uzi Vert. This single is off Scott's upcoming third album, AstroWorld.
